Winchester is a 2018 Blacklab Entertainment and Imagination Design Works. Winchester is scheduled to be released on February 2, 2018.
Helen Mirren says her new movie, "Winchester," is not about horror but rather a ghost story with foreign roots and a distinctive American element: the psychological impact of gun deaths.
Mirren plays Sarah Winchester, a real-life woman who in the 19th century inherited a large fortune for the creation of her husband from the Winchester rifle shortly after the Civil War. In the film, Winchester believes that it is stalked by those who were shot by this weapon, which allowed firing faster than the previous rifles.
"It's a ghost story, hopefully in the great tradition of Japanese ghost stories and movies," Mirren said in a recent interview. "You know, the Japanese love ghost stories and believe a lot in the power of the ancestral spirits, just like many cultures."
Part of the film was filmed at the Winchester mansion in San Jose, California, where the woman moved after her husband's death in 1881. Now known as the "Winchester Mansion", it is a popular tourist attraction with more of 160 rooms, 10,000 windows, 2,000 doors and 40 stairs.
According to the popular knowledge about the life of Winchester, this one ordered constructions in the house constantly to try to confuse the ghosts that believed that they were stalking her.
"There are many theories as to why he did that," said Mirren. "One of the theories that we explored in the film is that she was trying to placate the ghosts of those who had been killed with the Winchester rifle, she felt her deaths very strongly, she felt responsible ... and she tried, in her own way , to appease their spirits "
